About Us

Balwyn North Primary School enjoys a proud history of academic excellence where students enjoy both effective teaching and learning programs and quality buildings and grounds.  Balwyn North Primary School is situated in a quiet suburban location away from main roads and shares boundaries with Balwyn High School and The Merrell Kindergarten.

Balwyn North Primary School aims to provide a wholistic learning and teaching program, including a full specialist program all of which enjoy specialised, dedicated learning spaces including Music, LOTE (Mandarin), Physical Education, Library and Art.  In preparing our students for their future, the curriculum incorporates a global perspective, which is supported by our Sister School relationship with Suzhou Pingjiang Experimental School in Suzhou, China.

Balwyn North Primary School has a strong commitment to meeting the needs of 21st century learners, with high levels of learning technologies throughout the school. ICTs are used to support innovative teaching and learning practices. Resources include class sets of iPads (Years F-2), school owned netbooks, interactive whiteboards and projectors and an optional 1:1 device program in Years 3-6.

The caring and dedicated teaching team at Balwyn North Primary School believe in the school as a learning community and invest time and care into developing a learning and teaching program that meets the needs and challenges of every child.  In supporting the development of each child’s social, emotional and moral growth, all children participate in a weekly C.A.R.E (Community, Achievement, Respect, Empowerment) program.  The C.A.R.E program provides children with the opportunity to come together in cross-age (Prep – 6) groups with teachers from across the school to undertake hands-on activities that promote the school values and the development of the whole school as a learning community.

A strong home school partnership is encouraged and valued at Balwyn North Primary School, there are endless opportunities for parents to be involved in the life of the school and their child’s learning.  Regular parent information sessions, learning expos, student led conferences, music soirees and concerts provide parents with a window into their child’s learning.

The school grounds provide high quality play spaces for the students with basketball courts, sandpits and Tiger Turf on all other surfaces.  Our quality grounds are kept in excellent condition through the support of regular working bees attended by staff and school community members.

The school has a daily Out of School Hours Program (before and after school) which is managed by Camp Australia.  The club provides a high quality, caring program for families who require care outside of school hours.
